Doubt often feels lonelier than it actually is.
Many believers think they are the only ones with questions. That everyone around them is more certain. That true believers always feel what is right, always know what God wants, and never lose sleep over difficult questions. But that's not how faith works, in my opinion.
Faith is not a straight line from certainty to even more certainty. Faith is more often a path where you sometimes see light, sometimes fog, sometimes silence, sometimes peace, sometimes frustration. And yet you keep searching.
On GeensZins I write about faith as I experience it myself: not as a closed system in which all questions are neatly resolved, but as a living relationship with God, Jesus Christ, and a community of people who are on their way.
Doubt does not necessarily have to be the opposite of faith. Sometimes doubt is the moment when borrowed faith makes way for personal faith. Sometimes it is the place where you stop echoing and start truly searching. Sometimes it is even a form of reverence: you refuse to make big questions smaller than they are.
That doesn't mean every doubt is inherently healthy. Doubt can also exhaust you, isolate you, or make you cynical. But if you honestly bring your questions to God, if you keep looking for light, if you are willing to take even small answers seriously, then doubt can become a passage instead of an endpoint.
