What I want to share about myself: I am David Geens, born in 1974, married to Isabel, dad of two boys. I am Flemish, live in Maldegem and write on this blog about the things that occupy me: faith, entrepreneurship, books and everything that chafes at the intersection of science and religion.
What I do professionally
Professionally, I am a multi-entrepreneur. In 2000, I founded hosting company Nucleus, which I sold 18 years later to Combell (today team.blue). Today, I am the managing director of DMVH, an IT firm that does custom software development, and CEO of Proudly, an Antwerp-based AI startup in HR tech. I am also active as a venture capitalist.
My faith
I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints — better known as a Mormon. For a number of years, I have been allowed to serve voluntarily as a bishop in the Sint-Niklaas ward. Much of what I write on GeensZins stems from that religious consideration: about doubt, about how science and religion don't have to conflict, about what it's like to be a Mormon in Flanders.
What else I do
Privately, I am mostly a bookworm. I also make podcasts, including The Closet of Mormon about faith in Flanders and I occasionally write texts for other websites. Previous interviews with me have appeared in, among others, Custodes and Bloovi.
Why GeensZins?

A nod to my family name, and a promise: I write from conviction, but never as if I have a monopoly on the truth. I try to search honestly, sometimes aloud, sometimes awkwardly. With GeensZins, it is my intention to share things that interest me, opinions and experiences with others. It is by no means my intention to offend anyone. Should that inadvertently happen: my apologies in advance. I respect everyone's opinion and ask for that respect for mine too.
