Reasonably Religious: believing in a secular world

What if you doubt what God thinks of you?

W

Everyone sometimes has questions or uncertainties when it comes to faith and spirituality. Am I on the right track? Does my faith have the right form? Am I doing enough? Sometimes these questions can weigh heavily on our hearts, especially when we are afraid that we may have misunderstood something, or that we might even be in the wrong church.

Let me be clear right away: God loves you exactly as you are, and He is not ready to condemn you for your mistakes or misunderstandings. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints strongly believes in God's unconditional love and patience.

Many people have misunderstandings about what we believe. One of them is the idea that only members of our church can be saved. This is not true. Our church is precisely one of the few Christian churches that explicitly states that you do not go to hell because you happen to belong to another church, have never heard of Jesus, or because you do not yet fully understand His teachings.

God does not look for reasons to punish us

God is not a strict judge waiting to punish us. He looks at the intentions of our hearts. If you honestly seek truth and goodness, if you are sincere with yourself and others, then it doesn't matter how often you stumble. The only thing that matters is that you keep trying to do good.

We believe that no one can enter heaven without Jesus Christ, but we believe just as strongly that everyone gets a fair chance, even those who have not understood or learned everything in this life. What you do not yet know, you will learn. What you have not fully understood, will be explained to you. God is honest, merciful, and just.

Why do we share this so openly? Not because we believe everyone should be converted immediately, but because everyone has the right to get acquainted with the message of Jesus Christ. Everyone deserves to experience the peace and joy that come from understanding the gospel and the workings of the universe, and how that is applicable in daily life.

We are not on earth to convince or coerce others into conversion. Faith is something personal between you and God. Our task is simply to share what we know and believe. For we believe that if you sincerely seek, you will eventually find what you are looking for, now or later.

Good news for those who are Catholic, Protestant, Hindu, Muslim or even atheist

So, whether you are Catholic, Protestant, Hindu, Muslim or even atheist, know this: you don't have to be right about everything to eventually meet your Heavenly Father. He will supplement what you couldn't know or understand in this life, as long as you are sincere in your search.

So do not be afraid to seek, ask questions, or learn. You don't have to worry about doing something wrong. God's love and grace are precisely there to help you grow and bring you closer to Him.

We therefore warmly invite you to contact us without obligation, ask questions or start a conversation. Not to convince you, but to support you in your search. One thing we know for sure: whoever seeks will find, as He has promised.

So keep seeking, keep learning, and stay open. We are here to help you with that, without obligations. Because the gospel of Jesus Christ is ultimately about love, understanding, and continuous growth.
