Forever together

Saturday, November 24 was the first Saturday of our second year of church membership. A Saturday that we had marked in our agenda soon after our baptism. A date we worked towards and lived for with all enthusiasm to be worthy to receive our endowment.

It was a beautiful, spiritual moment. The covenants we were able to make in the temple have immersed us even more than our baptism and allowed us to be born again.

The moment we first entered the celestial room was like truly coming home. We felt a peace and tranquility that you won't find anywhere else. Being so close to the Lord truly makes you feel that you are part of a grand plan.

For us, that Saturday was part 1 of a double temple weekend, as an opener to our ultimate goal: our temple marriage. Even if this were the only blessing we would receive, it would still have been worth the change in our lives. This is for us the icing on the cake of the happiness we have found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The fact that we are now eternally bound to each other gives peace to our souls, making us more resilient to the trials we experience and will yet experience. We know that if we persevere, we will eventually reunite in heavenly peace and tranquility, freed from all misery, sorrow, and pain. We know that there we will come to know our children as they truly are, in their fullness, without the limitations they have here on earth.

We are glad that after a year of learning and the steady change of our hearts, we were ready for this step. For us, this marked the end of the beginning. We know that now the rest of our lives has begun, with a new foundation. From here we can build our new house stone by stone, as a full member of the church. We feel even closer to our Heavenly Father through the promises spoken in the blessings, if we adhere to our obligations. Our preparation is now complete, now we are ready for the real work.With the knowledge that we can always go to the temple to cozy up close to our Heavenly Father, for comfort or good advice. Or just for the conviviality of a large, eternal family.
