For those who don't believe, but also no longer find the simple answer convincing.
- No sermon
- No proof that God exists.
- But the question of whether disbelief is actually so self-evident
For everyone who dares to look at religion and meaning with an open mind.

Perhaps you recognize this
Perhaps you don't believe, but you're also not entirely satisfied with the answer that religion is merely a remnant from a time when people didn't know better. Perhaps you've asked yourself one of these questions::
- Can I be both rational and religious at the same time?
- Is there something else besides what science can measure?
- Why do billions of people throughout history continue to speak about experiences of God?
- Is faith merely a psychological mechanism to cope with fear, death, and uncertainty?
- Why doesn't religion disappear, despite science, technology, and progress?
And perhaps even more fundamentally: what if my conviction that there is nothing is ultimately also a conviction?

From convinced unbeliever to believer
My quest didn't begin with a vision or a spectacular conversion. It began much more trivially: with conversations, with books, with questions for which my familiar answers suddenly became less obvious, with an experience in a cloister in Assisi, and with people I met.
Eventually, events were added that thoroughly shook my life. A brain hemorrhage literally brought me close to the brink of life. Loss taught me that some questions no longer remain theoretical when they touch your own existence. What remains when you strip everything away? What does consciousness mean? Where does our experience of good and evil come from? Why does anything exist at all? What does love mean if it's not just a collection of chemical reactions? And what do we do with all those humanexperiences that cannot be easily captured in a spreadsheet?
I haven't found definitive answers to that, but I did discover something else: faith and reason are much less each other's enemies than I had always assumed.

About the author
I am an entrepreneur, author, and someone who probably asks more questions than is good for him. I have been building businesses and technology for over thirty years. My professional world revolves around software, data, logic, and problem-solving. Precisely for this reason, I found religion difficult to take seriously for a long time. Today I am still the same rational nerd, only in addition, I have become a believer.
