Reasonably Faithful: believing in a secular world

Our little apple is coming

O

Family and friends already know, so I can say it publicly: I'm going to be a dad again.

If all goes well, our new sprout will arrive around the third of September.

I won't deny that I secretly hope for a daughter, but three boys should also be fun. It will certainly be an exciting wait.

We chose the codename “appelke” (little apple): we were looking for something gender-neutral, and since we all work on Macbooks, iPhones, iPads and such these days, appelke seemed like a good choice.

A week and a half ago we had our first ultrasound. It's always special to see your baby for the first time.

It's nice to already see that little heart beating. So small, 11.2 mm, and yet that is already real life. Let others say it's not a living creature yet, for me it is.

Just like last time, we thought Isabel was a bit further along, but the measurement is very exact: 7 weeks and 2 days with a maximum margin of 4 days. So September 3rd is now the official ETA.

The search for names can begin. And I'm already secretly looking for some items, because I find that so cute.
