Reasonably Believing: believing in a secular world

Now is the best time

N

Now is the best time to start developing the person we ultimately want to be. It's a beautiful quote from President Uchtdorf that I put into a meme today:

Nu is de beste tijd om te beginnen aan de ontwikkeling van de persoon die we uiteindelijk willen zijn

This quote comes from a message from 2014. In this message, President Uchtdorf teaches us that we don't have to be perfect or achieve it in one step. Every step in the right direction is a good step. And we must know that we will also encounter setbacks on that journey.

I can attest that setbacks can sometimes be really discouraging. That you think you first need a complete overview of the entire solution so you can work it out all at once. But nothing could be further from the truth, as I have now (again) learned. Don't let uncertainty paralyze you. Sometimes the next step only becomes clear after the previous step.

With all that uncertainty, it's not always easy to take steps. Fear of choosing the wrong direction can also be very paralyzing. Fear of the setbacks you will yet encounter can prevent you from moving forward. But at such moments, my faith in Christ helps me, that He will help me when I need it.

Based on that knowledge, the best moment to continue working on yourself, to go your way of life, is simply now. Not tomorrow, not next week, but now. Every day you let pass is gone and will not return.

Shouldn't you occasionally take time to look back and reflect? Of course, I'm not claiming otherwise. But don't dwell too long; learn from history but don't avoid the future. It's coming anyway, whether you want it or not.
